Windows 95: 32 bit extensions and a graphical shell for a 16 bit patch to an 8 bit operating system originally coded for a 4 bit microprocessor, written by a 2 bit company that can't stand 1 bit of competition.

One of my sites just won an award!

Accessites.org was officially launched on Jan 6th 2006 with the express committment to prove that accessible, usable websites need not be boring by showcasing, and providing awards-recognition for, qualifying websites. As such, the Accessites team of assessors audit every submitted site against a set of 10 criteria points based upon accessibility, web standards compliancy, looks and attention to detail. Points are subtracted from a site’s overall score for every for each item that fails to meet the appropriate each checklist point. Sites that manage an appropriately high score are awarded a “Quality Universal Design Award”.

Given the criteria that are used to audit submitted sites, I felt that this was both an award worth winning and a site where an honourable mention really meant something. I was also keen to be involved in a project which would be actively showcasing the best in accessible, compliant, designs. So, with some trepidation, I decide to submit the Train 2000 web site. I’ve just heard that the site has not only been passed by the Accessites Team but that it has been awarded a “Quality Universal Design Award” and, to date, is Accessites’ highest-scoring submission!

I am officially chuffed!
