Makes two cones, or skeps — each 8″ tall by 1\u00bd” wide at the base.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Materials:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
  • Two 13\u00bd” x 8″ sheets of beeswax<\/li>
  • 1\u00bd square-braided cotton wick<\/li>
  • Ruler<\/li>
  • Pizza wheel (to cut the wax)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

    Directions:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
    1. Warm the beeswax slightly before you begin so that it’s easy to cut and roll. Use a hairdryer if necessary.<\/li>
    2. Line the 2 sheets end-to-end and cut them diagonally to create 4 elongated right-angled triangles. (See below)

    3. Cut a piece of wick so that it is slightly longer than the bottom<\/strong> edge of one of the triangles.<\/li>
    4. Place the wick about \u00bc inch from the bottom of one triangle and press it down slightly. Do not<\/strong> stretch it! Just make sure that it’s straight and that the ‘V’ shapes in the wick are the right way up.<\/li>
    5. Roll the wax tightly around the wick once and pinch it slightly to ensure an air-tight seal.<\/li>
    6. Continue rolling in the direction indicated by the arrow below.

    7. When you have finished rolling the first section, simply line up the bottom of the second section so that it butts stright onto the first, then continue rolling. Use the right-hand uncut edge to keep you straight.<\/li>
    8. If you do start to roll at an angle, unroll a little and realign as you go.<\/li>
    9. When all of the wax has been rolled, use your finger, or the flat blade of a warm metal knife, to seal the final edge.<\/li>
