I should explain that I rarely (if ever) load the washing machine (although I sometimes empty it). The loading is R’s job. Most of the time, there’s no problem providing he remembers one simple rule — that nothing hand-knitted or crocheted goes in the machine. I hand-wash it all. This rule came into effect a few years ago when he managed to destroy one of my hand-knitted sweaters in the washing machine (take note: Sirdar Country style in not<\/strong> machine washable – no matter what it says on the yarn label).<\/p>\n Well, he didn’t follow the rule one day and my beautiful, raw silk, top went into the machine. What emerged would barely fit a 10 year old and had all the sensuous texture of a pan scourer! <\/p>\n I was not pleased…<\/p>\n Two days later I bought 300gm of Bamboozle (100% bamboo) to “re-make” my Cupcake top. Needless to say, the new Cupcake top was very different from the previous one. I definitely won’t be wearing it without a t-shirt or cami underneath it. But to my surprise, I ended up with 100gms of unused Bamboozle. After a couple of weeks consideration, I’ve decided to make myself another Maui shrug<\/a>.<\/p>\n So I suppose I didn’t do too badly out of “The Raw Silk Top Affair”. I ended up with 2 tops instead of 1.
