Free Pattern: Rainbow Fingerless Gloves

  • March 10, 2018 6:18 pm
Finished Rainbow Fingerless Gloves

Having recently completed a pair of gloves, I began to wonder if I could create a pair of fingerless gloves/gauntlets using the colours of the LGBT flag. After a number of attempts using different hooks, I came up with this pattern which is suitable for advanced beginners or those who just want a quick, simple project. Whilst I was aiming for rainbow gloves, there’s no reason why these couldn’t be worked in any selection of colours as they only need about 25 yards of each of the 6 colours. Don’t know about you but I’m always looking for quick stashbuster…

The Victorian Attic

Victorian Attic

I really need some more clutter in this room and the sewing table needs more dressing.

The Victorian Bedroom

Hand made items in this room include the silk parasol; everything on the dressing table except the jug & bowl; framed photos; the box of chocolates next to the bed, the hat boxes and a wooden bowl of pot pourri on the mantelpiece. My favourite item is the large black hat hanging on the end of the bed which I was lucky enough to find on Ebay along with an vintage (and very delicate) folding fan which lies on the bed.

The Victorian Kitchen

This is my favourite room. I had loads of fun making all of the baked goods, tins and the veg tray.

The Victorian Dining Room

Again, all of the food and the plant were hand made. Still looking for ideas to populate the upper shelves of the dresser at the back. The lower shelf contains white plates, so I may make some fancy smaller plates for the upper shelves.

Most of the smaller items were handmade including the pictures; large potted plant; wreath; knitting basket & contents; books & newspapers and all of the food.

AGO Re-hydrating Gel

  • July 10, 2014 4:49 pm

This has become my go-to gel in the mornings after damping my hair and applying a little leave-in (currently Faith in Nature’s Seaweed conditioner). It reduces frizz, re-defines curls and generally smooths my hair far better than just water and leave-in alone.

Flax Seed Creams

  • July 9, 2014 4:45 pm

For those of you that prefer creams to gels, you can use flax seed gel as the basis for two different creams. The first one — which is based on a recipe in the Science-y Hair Blog — I’ve used successfully. I haven’t tried making up the second yet as it’s a little more fiddly. Basically, it’s shealoe whipped with flax seed gel and a little glycerin.

Jojoba Oil

  • July 9, 2014 2:03 pm

It finally dawned on me that my hair doesn’t like jojoba oil. It seems to make it all bitty and dry looking. Now trying castor oil instead — which bizarrely feels dry rather than greasy.

Flax Seed Gel

My hair absolutely loves flax seed gel and I’ve been making it for the past year. The following recipe makes about 300ml of gel which I divide into four 100ml bottles and freeze. Each individual bottle — which is about 2/3rds full — then defrosts and stays in the fridge for 2 weeks before the remains (if any) are discarded.
