Victorian Attic

I really need some more clutter in this room and the sewing table needs more dressing.

The Victorian Bedroom

Hand made items in this room include the silk parasol; everything on the dressing table except the jug & bowl; framed photos; the box of chocolates next to the bed, the hat boxes and a wooden bowl of pot pourri on the mantelpiece. My favourite item is the large black hat hanging on the end of the bed which I was lucky enough to find on Ebay along with an vintage (and very delicate) folding fan which lies on the bed.

The Victorian Kitchen

This is my favourite room. I had loads of fun making all of the baked goods, tins and the veg tray.

The Victorian Dining Room

Again, all of the food and the plant were hand made. Still looking for ideas to populate the upper shelves of the dresser at the back. The lower shelf contains white plates, so I may make some fancy smaller plates for the upper shelves.

The Victorian Sitting Room

Most of the smaller items were handmade including the pictures; large potted plant; wreath; knitting basket & contents; books & newspapers and all of the food.

Introducing the Victorian House

  • February 28, 2014 3:34 pm

This was my first doll house – bought as a kit about 8 years ago. It’s a 6 room cottage style house – four main rooms and two attic rooms. I’ve pretty much completed the main rooms. Attic Room 1 (the Sewing & Storage room) still needs to be finished and I’ve recently decided to turn the unfurnished Attic Room 2 into a second bedroom.

Back Stories

Ever since I got my first doll house about 8 years ago, I’ve always felt that each house needed its own back story so that it could be decorated and furnished correctly.

Victorian

With my first house, I went with something easy — late Victorian. There’s a ton of stuff you can buy for houses in this era. In fact about 90% of the merchandise out there is aimed at Victorian houses. Same with all of the DIY books. So it was hardly surprising that this house was decorated and furnished pretty quickly and easily.

Nanny Ogg’s Parlour

As I already have 2 dollhouses (a Victorian country villa and a WWII house), it was decided that I would have to switch to room boxes. After all, there’s only so much room for 1:12 dollhouses in a pretty small 3-bed terrace.
