Seamless Slippers
Based on the seamless version of Anne’s Slippers, these slippers have the same finished pattern throughout and a shaped toe.
Materials
- 60gm aran
- 40gm DK yarn (use both strands throughout)
- 5mm double pointed needles.
Directions
Cast on 3 sts
Row 1: k3
Row 2: s1, M1, k2 (4 sts)
Rows 3 – 5: s1, k to end
Row 6: s1, M1, knit to last st, M1, k1 (6 sts)
Rows 7 – 9: s1, k to end
Row 10: Repeat Row 6 (8 sts)
Rows 11 – 13: s1, k to end
Row 14: Repeat Row 6 (10 sts)
Rows 15 – 17: s1, k to end
Row 18: Repeat Row 6 (12 sts)
Rows 19 – 20: s1, k to end
With a 2nd dpn, pick up and knit across 10 sts along edge.
Turn. k10 sts on 2nd dpn and 12 sts on the first dpn.
With a 3rd dpn, pick up and knit 10 sts along other edge.
10st on needle 1 (N1)
12st on needle 2 (N2)
10st on needle three (N3)
32st total.
Row 1: k10, p1, k10, p1, k10.
Row 2: Knit all
Repeat these two rows working back and forth until 36 rows have been completed.
Now join the knitting to form a circle.
Rnd 1: p10, k1, p10, k1, p10
Rnd 2: Knit all
Rpt rnds 1 & 2 for 1 – 2 inches.
Re-organise sts as follows:
N1: 8sts
N2: 16sts
N3: 8sts
Rnd 1: p10, k1, p10, k1, p10
Rnd 2: N1[k to last 3sts, k2tog, k1], N2[k1, ssk, k to last 3sts, k2tog, k1], N3[k1, ssk, k to end]
Repeat until N1[4st], N2[8st], N3[4st] = 16st total
N1[p4]
Transfer N3 sts to N1
Kitchener graft the toe.
Finishing:
Weave in ends.
Make second slipper to match.
Suggestions:
Pick up sts along the open edge of the slipper and work a few rows in fun fur or eyelash yarn.
Add i-cord or crochet ties.
Add pompoms
For a child’s slipper, use 4mm needles and 2 strands fine DK or 1 strand DK and 1 strand 4ply yarn.
