Rowan Kidsilk Haze
I’d heard so much about this yarn that I decided I had to use it to knit another Wisp. People were describing it as “gorgeous
“, “addictive
” and “crack silk haze
“.
So I bought two skeins (shade Wicked – black) and, last week, sat down to begin work.
What is all the fuss about? It’s like knitting with hairy sewing cotton! And it’s incredibly easy to drop stitches (perhaps bamboo needles would be better than steel ones?). I’m not impressed. The finished piece will, no doubt, be wonderfully light and cobweb-like but this is not an easy yarn to work with. For the time being, I’m limiting myself to only knitting with this yarn in the daylight when I can give it my full attention and I’m placing a light piece of linen across my lap to make it easier to spot any problems.
I will finish it (eventually) but I very much doubt I’ll try this yarn again. It’s just too much like hard work.
