Pastel Cashmere Scarf
I stumbled across some hand-painted, lace-weight, pure cashmere on eBay in June and simply couldn’t resist it. Only 40gms but I figured there’d be enough to make a reasonable scarf. I made an Apple Blossom Stole last summer and really liked the lace pattern which was actually quite simple to work. The cashmere seemed ideal to apply the same pattern to a scarf.
The only real change I made was to start with a chain of 54 instead of the 78 in the original pattern. I also decided to work the trellis pattern as per the original stole so that the scarf wouldn’t be too bulky around the neck with the lace reserved for the two lower ends of the scarf. I then divided the yarn into 2 equal parts, worked one side until I ran out of yarn then worked the other side to match.
It worked up perfectly! If I had any niggles it’s that the scarf is very slightly shorter than I would have preferred but I simply ran out of yarn. Otherwise, it’s a very pretty and light but warm scarf.
