I Aten't Dead

Something, nothing and everything…

Thrifty Shrug

Red Shrug Crocheted this shrug in a day based on a Bernat pattern using about 250gms of yarn that I found in a local thrift shop.

Cost? About £2.

The yarn was some sort of cotton mix and around fingering/sport weight, so I used two strands held together throughout.

Rather than sewing up 8 inches to create sleeves as the pattern suggested, I found it was easier (and safer) to leave 18 inches in the centre open.

I folded the completed rectangle in half widthways, measured 9 inches from the centre to the outer edge and mark one edge with a pin. I then refolded the rectangle lengthways, lineed up the sleeve edges and sewed from the cuffs to the pin. Voila!

I also found the sleeves a little too short, so after sewing it up, I added about 4 rows (crocheted in the round) in the same pattern.
