Eyelash Bag
I was recently given 500grams of eyelash yarn and as, I wasn’t sure what to do with it, I knitted up a small swatch in the hopes that the yarn itself would give me some ideas. In the end, it decided it wanted to be a bag.
I’ve always wanted to try out the Unbiased bag pattern, so I thought I’d give it a whirl using this yarn.
This was more of a cotton-type, scrappy, yarn rather the silky type that clearly needed larger needles than the pattern recommended. 6.5mm needles gave a slightly tight stitch which was ideal for a bag and I used 5.5mm needles for the strap. I also made it slightly larger than the pattern suggested.
The end result was a cross between a Tardis & a Mary Poppins’ bag. Looks small but can hold a surprising amount of ‘stuff’. I’m really pleased with it. The only problem is that I’ve still got almost 300gms of yarn left!
UPDATE
After using the bag for a while, I decided to line it, add a couple of heavy duty snaps and decorate one side with crocheted flowers & leaves. Now it really gets compliments!

I recieved 1000g of eyelash yarn in two colourways, silver/black/white and pink/blue/purple for my birthday recently and I was wondering what on earth I could do with it! Well now I know…..5 bags! Well maybe just the one for starters:-)

Eyelash yarn is also great for trimming.
I’m about to use what’s left of mine to trim a pair of knitted mittens. I’ve also used eyelash yarn previously to make removable sleeve and boot cuffs – which are really just about 2 or 3 inches of garter stitch. You can either work in the round using double pointed needles or work flat using straight needles and seam them afterwards.
