The Big Denim Project
I recently found myself in possession of three pairs of perfectly good jeans (2 adult / 1 child) that had all been outgrown by their respective owners. Having done the whole “denim rag rug thing” earlier in the year, I decided that I could do without sore hands for the next few weeks and started to look around for other possibilities.
Then I remembered that my beloved denim skirt was wearing out and I hadn’t been able to find a replacement…
An hour or so on Google was followed by a trip to buy a few yards of printed cotton. Two days later, I had 2 new skirts, the beginnings of a new bag and 2 new pot-holders.
I followed this basic pattern for the skirts but made them both full length (I like my skirts looong) and unhemmed. One was also made much narrower than the other.
Having worn both for a day or so, I decided that perhaps the narrow one was perhaps a little too narrow for easy walking – so I’m now modifying it by opening up the lower side seams & adding two extra pieces. Just have to run it through the machine to finish that off.
I still have to line the bag and add straps but, all in all, not bad for about £8.
