Flower Clips

I recently bought some hair clips to try and keep my rather unruly curls out of my face with the idea of adding crochet flowers to each of them. There are lots of patterns for sweet little crocheted flowers out there but not much on actually attaching the flower to the clip. Glue seemed messy (and knowing my luck, unlikely to be a permanent solution). I did find a pattern for creating a crocheted “clip hat” but was both fiddly and a little too bulky for my taste.

So after some experimentation, I came up with a pattern for a flower that includes a clip “loop” so it can just be slid onto the clip.

Pattern

5 single crochet (sc) into a magic ring & slip stitch (sl st) to join.
Chain (ch) 1, 2 sc into each stitch (10 sc) & join.
Ch 2, 2 double crochet (dc) into same stitch as sl st, 2dc in next stitch, ch 2, (sl st in next stitch, 2 dc, 2dc in next stitch, ch2) 4 more times, sl st into back of flower centre.
Turn flower over.
Ch 4 & sl st to base of petal on opposite side to make a loop.
Fasten off.

Slip the open hair clip through loop.

Enjoy!
