Garden Show
Mood: Pleased 😀
This weekend saw the annual local garden show with both boys entering things they’d grown.
K entered some tomatoes that he’d grown (i.e. he’d look at the pot occasionally) whilst N entered tomatoes, a pot plant and a miniature garden. At the very last minute, I was persuaded to enter some knitting (a jumper I finished a few months ago) on the grounds that the competitor fee was actually cheaper than paying the normal show admission price.
N won 3rd prize for his tomatoes, 2nd prize for his garden and 1st prize (complete with nice medal) for his pot plant.
K won 2nd prize for his tomatoes and was not pleased! As something of a minor veteran (he’s entered tomatoes for the last three years running and won 2nd place last year), he figured he was a dead cert to win first this year. Not winning is tough when you’re only 6.
N was more than slightly suprised and pleased (this is only the first time he’s entered the show properly) and is already planning next year’s entries.
I was totally surprised to get a 2nd place for my last-minute entry. It made me more determined to finish off that sampler afghan that I’ve been knitting for the past 18 months. 15 squares knitted. Only another 32 to go…
