July Already?
Long time no post.
The problem is that I’ve been way too busy – even though, if asked, I’d say that work has been quiet generally.
Health-wise, had a lousy start to the week when I woke up on Monday with a bad case of light headedness, a low fever and joint pain. Still not sure if this was the lupus giving me a quick reminder or a simple case of mild flu picked up from K who was distinctly off-colour last week. I’d recovered enough to venture out of the house for an appointment by yesterday but it was touch and go. Still not 100% today but definitely getting better.
Given that this was the standard “3 days grotty with pain, fever and brain fog”, I’m inclined to think it was the lupus rather than a random virus.
In the meantime, C went off to Ibiza on Saturday. Ostensibly to work there for 2.5 months. However, a phone call on Tuesday revealed that he’s already running out of cash because his accommodation plans didn’t work out quite as he’d planned. I then had to play Evil Mother by refusing to wire him more money. I simply can’t afford to finance his stay over there – especially since he didn’t exactly plan and save for, the trip well in advance.
Four weeks from idea to realisation! With no job during that time (although I was able to find him some paid work for a day or so). Well – that’s C for you… Long term, I do think the experience will do him good – even if he ends up coming home next week (I’ve said I’ll pay for a ticket home if he needs it). But, if he is to get anything out of this, it has to be by standing on his own two feet and not depending upon other people to bail him out financially all of the time.
Sometimes it’s so hard to be the Long Term Good Parent. Especially when it means you have to be the Evil One in the short term.
